Aldi’s hassle-free shopping wins it world’s top brand

4765Super discounters Aldi and Lidl have been recognised for the simple, clear and hassle-free shopping experience they provide.

The two have been named the world’s top brands by the Global Brand Simplicity Index.

Aldi retained the top position for the sixth consecutive year with Lidl capturing third place.

Both were praised for expanding their ranges of products as well as having strongly-communicated ‘money-saving’ messages.

The index revealed that 63% of consumers are even willing to pay more for a simple retail experience.

The index polled 12,000 people and ranked 87 brands worldwide in order of the clarity and simplicity of their products and the way they communicate with shoppers.

"Brands that offer simpler customer experiences are rewarded with passionate customer loyalty, more innovative employees and greater revenue. In short, embracing simplicity improves the bottom line for brands and organisations,” said Howard Belk of Siegel & Gale, the brand consultancy behind the index.

Banks and insurance companies dominated the bottom ten. Ryanair was ranked third from last, despite its recent attempts at being more user-friendly.
