The Algarve has been selected by readers of Reader's Digest as a 'Trusted Brand' in the category for Regional Tourism.
The category was introduced for the first time this year and the Algarve beat Portugal’s other regions.
"The quality, cost/benefit and the perception of customers' needs are the attributes that contributed to the selection of the Algarve as a trusted Portuguese brand with significant voting rates," says the Algarve tourist board's president.
"The Algarve is the main tourist area of the country with more than a third of all overnight stays made in Portugal, and this selection again proves it,” said Desidério Silva, president of the tourist board, who added that "trust is an essential value in the relationship between consumers and a tourist destination but other attributes of the Algarve contribute such as climate, security, a range of holiday types, good accessibility and hospitality."
This is the 16th edition of the annual study which aims to identify brands that consumers trust the most and to evaluate the confidence levels in products and services in 65 categories, allowing companies to assess the loyalty of their clients.
In Portugal, the evaluation was done through questionnaires to 13,200 subscribers to Reader's Digest, the most widely read magazine in the world with 100 million readers.
The Algarve was positioned at the top level in the tourism and leisure section, along with other brands such as Abreu in the Travel Agencies category and the Pestana Group in a new category for Hotels Chains.
