Portugal’s Post Office network is launching its own banking service in over 50 branches on March 18th. Correios de Portugal announced that BancoCTT will open for business within existing CTT outlets.
"To mark its launch, BancoCTT will open to the public simultaneously in 51 outlets spread across 18 districts in Portugal, nine of which are in the cities of Lisbon and Oporto, and with a strong presence in digital channels, through the provision of the 'BancoCTT’ app available for iOS and Android phones and online home banking.
In a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission, CTT today said that its new bank "was born from the natural evolution of CTT’s existing financial services business.”
The goal is that the Post Office bank "quadruples its network to more than 200 branches this year and over the next three years, to assert itself as one of the largest banking networks in the country."
CTT has converted its banking outlets to display new equipment and signage and have carried out a rigorous and intense employee training programme in conjunction with the Institute of Banking."
