Paulo Portas back on TV as a commentator on ‘international politics’

portas4The former leader of the CDS-PP Paulo Portas is to return to the limelight as a commentator on international politics, joining a long line of former politicians who just can’t seem to live without frequent shots of publicity.

According to Diário de Notícias on Friday, Paulo Portas is in negotiations with TV channels to ensure his words of wisdom will reach a wide audience.

Diário de Notícias says the planned programme will consist of interviews and chats with top international guests in frequent slots of 15 to 20 minutes.

Portas bade a tearful farewell to his party faithful on March 13th, with the former Minister of Agriculture Assunção Cristas voted being voted in as president of the CDS-People’s Party Cristas with a 95.59% majority.

Paulo Portas did not hint at forthcoming career choices but having played second fiddle to coalition Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho, now he will be in charge of his own programme.

His political career has been noted for a 16 stint at the head of the CDS-PP party, his astounding ability to emerge unscathed in the Ferrostaal submarines scandala nd his laucnh of the flawed Golden Visa programme which was so full of loopholes that 17 people will appear in court in April for taking full advantage of the opportunities presented.
