Self-cleaning dishes created in Sweden

plateDesigners in Sweden claim to have created crockery which is self-cleaning.

Cellulose pulp is used as the base. It is pressed into a heated mould. After its shape has been formed, it is coated with a wax which has been dissolved in carbon dioxide at a high temperature.

The result is a material which is said to be resistant to dirt and liquid; food is not able to stick to the material.

The product is lightweight, but at the same time very strong.

There are no plans to market the product in the immediate future. But in the longer-run if the product is successful, it would eliminate the need for water and for detergents to maintain it.

In addition, resources would be spared in the manufacturing process.
