A 33-year-old man died on impact yesterday evening when he drove his van head-on into a truck.
A case of dangerous overtaking was to blame for the accident on the EN-270, near Santa Margarida in the Tavira district.
The van driver, Paulo Casimir, worked for Centrauto and lived in Olhão.
The accident happened at 20:00 and Tavira bomberios were soon at the scene to deal with the wreckage. Casimir was dead and the truck driver sustained minor injuries.
The EN270 link road to the Via do Infante motorway was cut off for several hours.
