Gripped by Olympic fever, Lagos council has pledged €500,000 to local sports clubs in the 2106/2017 season.
At the council meeting on August 3rd, the executive decided that the money will be spent on direct aid to its sports clubs to provide sports facilities for training and competitions, transport and logistical support.
The council’s return to giving direct grants to its clubs aims to encourage sport by supporting viable clubs so the local population has access to many forms of sporting activity.
The council wants to offer the opportunity for all age groups, from pre-school onwards, to create a culture of healthy lifestyles.
