Rain on its way as the Algarve cools

rainRain is on its way and will hit the north and central regions on Monday with a distinct possibility that it will continue south to the Algarve, according to Portugal’s weather service.

On Monday 'oop north there will be a build-up of cloud bringing scattered showers accompanied by thunder.

From late afternoon on Monday there will be rain along parts of the north  western coast and across the central region: rain that from the early hours of Tuesday will extend across the country accompanied by the sound of thunder.

From Tuesday the afternoon, the clouds will disperse from the skies above the Algarve but on Wednesday the showers will be back across the entire country.

Temperatures will drop sharply on Tuesday 13th to below 25°C throughout the country and will get no higher than 16° C in the northern regions.

In the Algarve, Faro should be a comforting 25ºC on Tuesday and 23°C on Wednesday, (24°C and 22°C in Portimão).

The all important Monchique air temperature will be between 21ºC and 19ºC early next week reducing the risk of fires reigniting, as they have done again this Sunday.

Flood-prone Albufeira had better beware of the 'possibility of flooding due to the accumulation of debris in storm water pipes.’
