Police in the Algarve have shut down an illegal speedboat factory in Faro.
A major drug bust saw police arresting 10 people and seizing two tons of hashish at Portimão’s Praia do Alemão beach on Monday night (February 3).

A month and a half after the first group of illegal immigrants arrived in Portugal on Monte Gordo Beach, in the Algarve, the Moroccan ambassador to Lisbon, Othmane Bahnini, revealed that the Portuguese government has not officially informed him of anything, nor has he been able to confirm the nationality of the total 19 young men who arrived throughout December and January in the Algarve.
"This is a study visit of three days, organized by AMAL (Algarve Intermunicipal Community), so that decision-makers are aware of and can discover new solutions to treat or produce water" revealed António Miguel Pina, president of AMAL and mayor of Olhão.
Reacting to those who spoke out against rubbish from other countries being dumped in Portuguese landfills, the Socialist government announced yesterday that it would adopt urgent measures to tackle the issue.
“Nothing is out of the question”- said João Matos Fernandes, Minister for the Environment and Climate Action today in Loulé, to participate in a seminar on adaptation to climate change. However, the parliamentarian wants to stress that “the problem of the lack of water in the Algarve is not going to be solved with more dams”, also hinting that desalination could be an efficient way to move past the issue.
Faro is set to welcome back the city’s shared electric scooters again starting this Tuesday, February 3rd. After the departure of companies Voi and Circ, it is Bolt, formerly Taxify, who is back to bet on this service in the Algarve’s capital.
