After a silence of nearly two years, the former head of the Espírito Santo Group, Ricardo Salgado, is launching a book this Thursday, the result of lengthy conversations with journalist  Alexandra Ferreira.

‘BES - os dias do fim revelados’ (BES – the last days revealed) covers the events that led to the fall of the Espírito Santo Group, with an acerbic chapter reserved for BES Angola boss, Dr Álvaro Sobrinho whose appointment Salgado refers to as "one of the biggest mistakes of my career."

Britain’s Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond, has said the immigration status of British expats in EU countries could be in doubt if the referendum decides that the UK should leave the EU.

Mr Hammond said it is not clear what rules would apply if the UK was no longer part of the EU's free movement rules.

Environment Minister, João Matos Fernandes, has accused the Uber transport service company of operating illegally in Portugal.

Fernandes said in parliament that Uber is illegal, citing a court decision that Uber should cease operating.

Missing teenager Rodrigo Lapa was found dead this morning in a countryside area behind the house near Malheiro, Portimão where he lived with his mother, step-father and little sister.

Rodrigo, 15, had been missing since 07:00 on Monday 22nd of February, the last time his mother said she saw him. He later failed to show up to school in Estômbar but classmates said he had sent a text message the previous Friday saying he was feeling ill.

Loulé council has assured national newspaper Expresso that the local public-private water company Infralobo will stop charging the 'per bed' tax following recommendations from the Regulatory Authority for Water and Wastewater Services (ERSAR).

"The new tariff, which links water charges to the number of beds will be discussed at the Infralobo Board meeting on March 9th," according to Leonel Silva, the director of planning at the council who did not mention the two previous rulings from ERSAR in the past two years and the water company’s refusal to act on the regulator's observations.
