Fine & Country Get Back To Business (not quite) As Usual

Fine & Country Get Back To Business (not quite) As UsualPortugal has begun a partial relaxation of lockdown regulations from Monday May 4th, with many businesses allowed to return to operation along with outdoor activities such as golf, tennis and surfing. There will be a gradual return to a new state of normality with hygiene and distancing measures in place whilst all of us adapt to the new reality of living and working with the threat of the Coronavirus for the months ahead.

Here in Portugal, we can be proud to be considered as one of the countries that has best contained the virus and the Algarve’s tourism industry is confidently moving towards the opening of hotels in time for the summer. From May 18th, Portuguese restaurants will be allowed to open. Most remaining activities and businesses are expected to resume operation from the beginning of June.

Of course, the economy of the Algarve depends on tourism and tourism depends on borders opening and flights arriving at Faro Airport. Industry experts are all expecting this to take place at some time in June, or maybe sooner, but this of course depends on travel restrictions being lifted in countries such as the UK, France, Germany and elsewhere.

What's Happening At Fine & Country Algarve?

We have been very busy behind the scenes and all of our staff have carried on working full time, from home. From Monday May 4th our office will partially reopen, working with doors closed and we are available to clients by appointment only for physical meetings and viewings, strictly adhering to hygiene and distancing practices as recommended by the Portuguese health authorities. As for the property market, we remain cautiously optimistic, especially considering that we have seen no decrease in the level of sales enquiries we have received over the last two months compared to the same two-month period last year. It is clear to us that the desire to own property here in the Algarve is as strong as ever and with our region viewed as one of the safest European holiday destinations in the face of the Covid-19 outbreak, we would not be surprised to see a surge in interest later in the year.

To all of our clients and friends, wherever you may be, please drop us a line and let us know if we can help you in any way. Stay safe and see you soon!
