First home game ends in success for Carvoeiro United

First home game ends in success for Carvoeiro UnitedMore than 100 local fans watched as the newly formed Carvoeiro United FCCU won their first home game 1-0 against local rivals Mex. Grande FC.

Bad weather in the morning threatened to dampen the spirits of players and fans but the sun came out as the whistle blew for the opening of the game held at the stadium in Estômbar on October 11.

The FCCU players, all local to Carvoeiro and of various nationalities, were hoping for a positive start to their home campaign of the Algarve Football League and during the first half they managed a couple of shots on goal but without reward.
During the second half of the game the pressure to secure a win was mounting but it was a free kick from goal keeper Adam Rafis that put the home team ahead, with the ball avoiding all players on the pitch before bouncing in behind the mystified Mex. Grande FC keeper.
