World Golf Awards touches down in the Algarve

World Golf Awards touches down in the AlgarveThe World Golf Awards has touched down in Portugal as finishing touches are put in place ahead of the inaugural Gala Ceremony.

The only global initiative to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence in the golf hospitality industry, the showcase will take place at the Conrad Algarve from November 13th-16th.

The World Golf Awards will see presentations made across a range of categories during a red carpet event, with leading golf tourism destinations competing for titles including Best Golf Resort, Best Golf Course, Best Golf Tour Operator, and Best New Golf Course.
The presentation of the awards on the Saturday, November 15th, will form the centrepiece of a three-day itinerary for the event, allowing guests to enjoy some of the world-class facilities on offer at the famous Quinta do Lago Resort.

Chauffeur driven airport pick-upEverything from a chauffeur driven airport pick-up, to a full 18-holes of golf on both the Friday and Saturday, with food and beverages supplied, will be included in the weekend package.
World Golf Awards Managing Director Chris Frost said: “With just days to go until the launch of the inaugural World Golf Awards I can really feel the tension mounting. The votes have been tallied and it will be an honour to present the leading players in the golf hospitality industry with the recognition they so richly deserve.

Among the highlights of the event will be a chance to play on the newly renovated Quinta do Lago North Course – a challenge for golfers of all standards set in a natural woodland setting of pine, gorse, heather and wild flowers.

The World Golf Classic will be held on the new North Course Quinta do Lago during the day of the Gala Ceremony.

Having already generated sustained media interest, Destination Golf Travel is the latest industry leading title to sign up as a partner. The publication joins International New York Times, Bloomburg Businessweek, and CNBC in partnering with the event.

Providing a flourish of exquisite quality for attendees of the event, Laurent-Perrier will provide refreshment during the presentation of the awards on Saturday, November 15th.

About World Golf Awards

World Golf Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world class courses and golf destinations.

Golf tourism constitutes a vital segment in the global travel and tourism marketplace. An estimated 600 million golfer visits will take place in 2014 to the 32,000 golf courses and resorts worldwide.
The inaugural World Golf Awards will focus on the leading 130 nations who are shaping the future of this dynamic industry.

While celebrating and rewarding excellence across golf resorts, courses and the golfing destinations throughout the world, World Golf Awards will strive to ultimately raise the golf tourist customer experience and stimulate both the domestic and international golf tourism market.

The worldwide voting process began in May. Votes will be made by professionals working within the golf travel and tourism industry – senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators, agents and media professionals. Votes may also be cast by the public (golf tourism consumers).

The voting works on a first-past-the-post system to ensure impartiality and independence. Votes are submitted online via the World Golf Awards website. The winners of each national category will go head-to-head with the winners of the other countries before the unveiling of the World Winners.

Our global media partners include the leading brands: TV5Monde, International Herald Tribune, Newsweek and CNBC. This global media partner network has a monthly readership of 1.7 million and a TV audience reach of 90 million.
