FC Farense met Go Ahead Eagles at Amendoeira Golf Resort sports complex on Wednesday 7th January and won 1:0
Whilst on a warm weather training camp in Portugal, the Dutch football team Go Ahead Eagles played the Portuguese team, FC Farense at the Amendoeira Sports Club in the Algarve. The friendly football match, arranged by Gary Hobson (FIFA and UEAFA match agent), took place on Wednesday 7th January with a 10.30am kick off. The Dutch team played well but FC Farense emerged as the stronger team, deserving their 1:0 victory.
Both teams were particularly complimentary about the natural grass pitch, which is kept in top condition and used exclusively by professional sports teams.
FC Farense’s coach and well known ex-football player Abel Xavier thanked Amendoeira Golf Resort team: “First of all, I want to thank the excellent conditions for this match to take place (…) the overall approach was positive and the final score gave us more confidence to achive our aim that is above all win games (…) thank you so much for your hospitality.”
Foeke Booy, coach of the Dutch team also mentioned that this match was useful and awaits a re-match next season: “the pitch is perfect; the hospitality is excellent and it was a useful game for us (…). Hopefully we’ll meet again next year. We are thankful”.
