Hot group ride in June for the Algarve Senior Bikers

Hot group ride in June for the Algarve Senior BikersOn Tuesday 23rd June, 22 bikes with 26 riders and pillions got together in São Bras, for a group ride through the Eastern Algarve.

Split into three groups for safety and convenience, we left São Bras towards Tavira on the N270, and then on the M514-2 along the Gilão river, across the river on the Ponte de São Domingos, heading to Cachopo. Just before Cachopo we had a photo opportunity and a coffee break.

The plan was to ride to Ameixial and then south on the N2 to Barranco do Velho. As we came closer to Ameixial, we saw big smoke clouds ahead of us, and we were stopped at the N2, due to the road being closed in view of the fire that raged just south: that was where we were heading.

After some “heated” debate, we decided to go back to Cachopo and use the N124 to Barranco do Velho. Via Querenca, we finally reached São Romão and the restaurant Zé Dias, one hour later than planned.

In the end, we had a memorable ride!
