In case of emergency press the red button - the ASB August get together

In case of emergency press the red button - the ASB August get togetherDue to the extremely warm weather the ASB did not participate in the usual organised monthly ride. Instead on the 18th of August group member Mike Sanders organised an excellent and social lunch at the Moto Clube in Faro.

Algarve Senior Bikers were pleased to welcome Mark, Jorge and Peter from iMERGENCIES - ECDE International.

After lunch Jorge gave a short explanation of how the service works and then went on to present one of company's emergency buttons to Brian Evans, who introduced the system to the group.
In future the lead rider can now carry the `Red Button` which has built in GPS location and use it to call for assistance should he need to do so.

This service must surely be advantageous to many of us of a certain age and not just those involved in motorcycling.

If you go to the Imergencies website www.imergencies.com you will see that there are many benefits in belonging to such a scheme, particularly if you live alone or have ongoing health problems etc.
This system takes all the worry out of any emergency situation and covers incidents such as accident, burglary, fire and sudden illness etc.
The great thing is that everything is done in your own language so if like me your Portuguese is not so good it is worth joining just for assistance with the initial contact with the appropriate emergency service.

The ASB would like to thank the Moto Clube of Faro for their kind hospitality, a good lunch and even a free T shirt for all those attending and of course Imergencies for the free use of the red button.
