On Saturday, 23rd March, the Florentinta Charity Fashion Show took place at Monte Vale d’Eguas Restaurant in Almancil. Over 150 people attended to watch our 12 glamourous models strut their stuff and showcase a selection of clothes available from Florentinta.
The Home Centre is relatively new to Almancil and is an Aladdin’s Cave of treasures waiting to be found. It’s a new venture for Florentinta, together with the existing well-established Crown Paint Centre.
Florentinta have established themselves over the last 18 months as the place for Frenchic Chalk Paint. Now added to the offer are other paint products to transform your existing furniture, Kylie Minogue Bedding, Jonny Javelin Greetings Cards, new and upcycled furniture and fantastic ladies fashions.
Gail, who owns the long-established company of Florentyna Dawn in the UK has over 30 years’ experience in the Fashion and Design Industry has now expanding the Portuguese side of the business to incorporate Ladieswear, this is due to numerous client requests to stock brands that are different in style from any others available in Portugal. Gail is renowned for a special flair for colour and style which is proving popular for transforming old and new Portuguese furniture.
If you don’t want to paint your own furniture, just commission Florentinta to do the work for you, either at their showroom or in your own home. In effect, why not upcycle your own furniture instead of disposing of it.
Florentinta also run regular workshops at The Home Centre teaching customers to transform their own furniture using the fabulous range of Frenchic Products.”
The Fashion Show raised 3000 euros which will benefit two charities, Rotary Club Estoi Palace International and the StreetLife Animal Sterilisation Programme.
RC Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) last year helped with the purchase of a mobile unit to screen throughout the Algarve for lung and skin cancer. This year following an inspiring talk by the head nurse of Faro Paediatric Unit RCEPI decided to join forces with RC Faro to purchase an Accuvein AV400. This amazing small, hand held device, employs 2 lasers to locate veins up to 10 mm deep to the accuracy of a human hair. The paediatric unit process 39000 children in a year and it can be very difficult and very painful to locate their veins. There is also the risk of infection, statistics show that hospital acquired infections come from multiple attempts to access patients’ veins. This innovative machine removes all the uncertainty and pain and makes things much easier for the healthcare professional and more importantly the patient.
StreetLife was launched in September 2017 and has gone from strength to strength. Their mission is to reduce the number of stray and abandoned dogs in the East Algarve through their sterilisation programme. They are a non-profit organisation set up to support local pet owners with insufficient funds to sterilise their dogs, which often results in unwanted puppies being dumped. They also sterilise stray dogs and support local Animal Shelters. To date they have sterilised over 200 local dogs – which is an amazing achievement. They rely totally on donations. Every donation helps a sterilisation. Or you could think about becoming a StreetBuddy for just €5 per month. Help StreetLife to make a difference!
We are very grateful to everyone who attended or donated to the causes and to our sponsors Avalon Funeral Plans, Sharon Wilson, Marketing Manager Portugal, Mobile: 919 224 788, email: Sharon.wilson@avalonfuneralplans.pt; Cardoso Drain Cleaning Company, 917 207 657; and IBC Security, www.ibcsecurity.com email: jack@ibcsecurity.com; and the craft stalls that were also present.
