Algarve group Helping Hands, from São Brás, have kindly donated a piece of equipment for the therapy sessions for the APPC (Cerebral Palsy School, Faro).
The roller, with its two hand holds, as seen on the pony Alinta on the left, was specially made for the job by master saddler Rachael Argo of Três Cavaleiras Saddlery, based near Golegã. In the picture are Lucy Evans and Louise Kelly, saddle fitters, who are part of the team, and come down regularly to the Algarve to assist horse owners with repairs to their saddlery, fitting, and, also in the choice of new saddles too! Pinetrees representatives Teddy and Daniel are assisting with the photoshoot.
On Friday mornings a dozen clients consisting of adults and some very young disabled children benefit from the therapy sessions using the horses at Pinetrees Riding, Almancil.
Alinta and Ms. Blossom have the special job of helping the very small children and are used by the therapists Isabel and Rita. Pushkin, Frodo and Boneco do a half hour session with the adults under trainer Beverley.
Therapy using the horse is very effective but takes a lot of help from volunteers who give up their time to assist. Would you like to help?
The last session will be held on Friday 15th with the usual Christmas theme. It is rumoured that Father Christmas may be dropping in.
