British Embassy Lisbon: Scottish football charity Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal donates £5,000 for disadvantaged youth in LisbonWith the support of the British Embassy in Lisbon, the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal donates £5,000 to the National Street Football Association (Associação Nacional de Futebol de Rua). This contribution marks the Appeal’s 102nd donation, continuing its tradition of supporting children's charities wherever the Scotland national football team plays overseas.

Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal donationA presentation ceremony was held on the afternoon of the 8th of September, ahead of the Portugal vs Scotland UEFA Nations League football match. Deputy Head of Mission Nigel Boud joined members of both organisations for football activities with the children in an event marked with traditional Scottish flair, kilts, and bagpipes.

The National Street Football Association provides underprivileged children with opportunities to engage in sports, fostering social inclusion and human development. The £5,000 donation from the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal will enable the Association to run various social sports activities related to street football and include study support sessions for the children.

By supporting the National Street Football Association, the Sunshine Appeal is helping provide vital opportunities for underprivileged children to grow, learn, and thrive through sport. It’s heartening to see how our countries can unite not just on the football field, but also in our support for those in need."

About Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal
The Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal is a Scottish charity that donates money to children's causes in locations where the Scottish National Football team play overseas matches.
It has made donations around the world, totalling over £300,000 to help many worthy causes including refuge shelters for children in Peru and Mexico, help refurbish a nursery in Budapest, build a playground in a children’s hospital in Moldova, provide incubators for a hospital in Croatia, as well as various charities who use football as a medium to engage with the children.
