A Escola do Gelado, the first ice cream school in Portugal and the only one specialised in natural ice cream, have opened their own space in Albufeira, and the first training courses start this month!
Courses are available for those in the Hotel, Restaurant and Cafe industry, or just those with a passion for ice cream.
With headquartres in Porto, the school give professional training to anyone that wants to open their own Gelato Shop, or simply improve the quality of an existing ice cream shop. The goal is to teach staff from Hotels, Bakeries and Restaurants (HORECA) but also people with an interest in ice cream.
The Gelato Professional School opened in Portugal is 2016 and has 2 schools, teaching more then 150 students and offering consultancy to over 30 businesses.
“In Algarve, the odds of success of any gelato business are close to 100%. There are many reasons for that: location, weather, tourism and many golden sandy beaches. There are plenty of gelato shops, but not many offering natural ice cream. That’s our niche and that’s what we do best. Choosing Albufeira for our Algarve school location means we have a central position, easily accessible to the entire Algarve region,” said Vítor Carvalho, Director and European Gelato master.
The following courses are available:
Starter level making Italian Gelato (28 - 29 October)
Popsicle stick ice cream (30 October)
Cold stone rolled ice cream (31 October)
Practical workshop in Italian Gelato (2 November).
