Our Concert on April 12th will feature three of the youngest international soloists in our history, and Peter´s presentation will continue the theme of the history of the First Republic.
Concert - April 12th
The three young members of Opus 3 are superstars in the making. Pianist Richard Rait from Russia studied at the Zakhar Bron School in Zurich and was until recently a pupil at CRAMC, the Conservatório in Faro. Violinist Lara Haluska is Hungarian and studied at various music schools in Hungary, including the Liszt Ferenc Academy in Budapest. Cellist Anna Komusinski is Mexican/Polish, and she performs on a cello from the 18th century. She has studied in Poland, Denmark, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein and USA. Each of the performers is under 18 years old and the three of them are current students at the prestigious music school Musica Mundi at Waterloo in Belgium.
The first half of their programme includes older works by Beethoven, Wieniawski, Paganini and Haydn; and in the second half they present newer works by Sollima, de Falla, Babajanian and Piazzolla.

Peter´s presentation will continue the theme of the history of the First Republic. The participation of Portugal in the Great War proved to be very difficult for the young republic because the problems that emerged at the Western Front, on the Home Front, and at Versailles were far greater than the politicians could resolve. And despite their best efforts, the state became ever more unbalanced and chaotic. Peter describes the events which evolved and the eventual way in which the Gordian Knot was severed, leading later to the birth of the authoritarian Estado Novo.
He will present The Military Dictatorship at the Municipal Library in Tavira at 11:00 on Friday 24th April; and at the Municipal Library in Lagoa on Tuesday 28th April at 18:00.
There is no charge for these events, and Lynne and Peter will organise a lunch after the Tavira talk.
