The Algarve in full Santos Populares mode: paper garlands strung across the alleys, basil pots on every windowsill, and the smoke of a thousand grills wafting into a warm 28°C evening. Friday to Sunday stays bright and dry, the sea finally swimmable, the nights soft enough to dance in the street until late.
It peaks on Saturday the 13th, Santo António's day. Olhão opens its riverside city festival, Loulé throws its Saint Anthony's Fair, and out west, Aljezur pours the new vintages at a tiny village wine fair. Pace yourself: this is a week to follow your nose, not a schedule.
