Local Authors Take Centre Stage at Lagos Book Fair - June 17th to 30th 2026Book lovers are invited to celebrate the return of one of Lagos’ favourite literary events, as the 16th edition of the Book Fair (Mostra de Livros) takes place from 17th to 30th June at the historic Armazém Regimental, Praça do Infante, Lagos.

Open daily from 11 am to 11 pm, the fair offers visitors the chance to browse, discover new books and enjoy a lively evening programme of presentations, poetry, music and entertainment.

A highlight takes place on Tuesday 18th June from 8 pm, when authors from the international community will present their work. Bringing together a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, the evening will feature memoir, science fiction, adventure and children’s stories, followed by opportunities to meet the writers, ask questions and have books signed.

Lena Strang, known for her many years writing for Tomorrow magazine, will present The Heart of Portugal: Portraits of the Algarve and Beyond, the third book in her series celebrating the people, places and spirit of Portugal. It is available in both English and Portuguese.

P.D. Cain, a former boat skipper and weather presenter, will introduce his adventure titles The Fracture Hunters as well as his science-fiction sequel April Dawn – Life and Death.

Bernadete Bishop, whose background spans creativity, arts and theatre studies, will present Amelia’s Adventures, the story of a brave seagull exploring the wider world. The book is available in English, Portuguese and French.

Lireck, a former ballerina and artist, will share her charming children’s book O Menino que Comeu a Nuvem, inspired by a magical story first told to her grandson.

Come along, meet the faces behind the books and support the authors who help make the Algarve’s creative community so vibrant. An evening of stories, imagination and conversation awaits.
