The annual Autumn Mediterranean Garden Fair will take place at the Fatacil Showground in Lagoa, on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th October from 10H - 17H.
The event is dedicated to making beautiful and sustainable Mediterranean gardens and landscapes with minimum water use. It is organised by MGAP volunteers as our major educational and fund raising event with the support of Lagoa Câmara Municipal.
Join us to celebrate the start of the gardening year at the Municipal Park, FATACIL Showground in Lagoa with its excellent facilities for visitors and exhibitors including ample free parking on site. This year we have new plant nurseries and exhibitors, a total of 60 plus exhibitors including over 20 growers.
A rich programme of free talks and demonstrations is planned.
The first presentation on Saturday 17 October is on “Nature Restoration – changing eucalyptus to cork oak woodland”, there will be news of a new project for a Barrocal zone protected area with an exhibition. Other topics include “Gardening with Succulents”.
On Sunday 18 October there will be talks on improving your vegetable and fruit garden. As usual there will be free advice on how to create and maintain your garden sustainably into the future with the theme of
Creating landscapes that care!
Available for sale will be a selection of plants suitable for Algarve gardens including robust mediterranean plants, native plant seeds, fruit trees and succulents. Also, a range of ornamental, house and aromatic plants. We will have sales and advice on garden trees, and a wonderful range of succulents for both the garden and containers. This is an opportunity to buy the most suitable plants for your garden and benefit from the advice and guidance of experienced nursery owners, growers, speakers and MGAP members.
Autumn is the best time to buy your garden plants and the best time to do your planting – giving time for the all-important development of root systems during the cooler and more humid months of autumn and winter
As usual, it will be possible to pre-order plants from growers for collection during the event. Full details of exhibitors and updates will be available on our web site and Facebook page.
At the MGAP Stand there will be a selection of spring and summer flowering bulbs (with some native bulbs) suitable for Algarve gardens. Free advice on sustainable gardening and plant identification as well as the popular bookshop. This year there are new exciting additions to the books available.
There will be craft stands related to plants and gardening with high quality botanical art, ceramics and garden ornaments. The popular Plant Créche is for your purchases and then later collection by car. The organisation asks that to reduce waste, visitors bring their own bags and boxes.
Refreshments (including vegetarian options, dumplings and Indian Curries) and full bar facilities will be available.

The Mediterranean Gardening Fair brings together professionals, growers and gardening enthusiasts to discover solutions that respect the landscape, conserve water and promote biodiversity.
The event is organised by APEJECM / MGAP, a not-for-profit association dedicated to promoting best practice in landscaping and gardening in the Algarve. APEJECM / MGAP is committed to education and is run entirely by volunteers. We would not be able to stage this event without the support we receive from our members, friends and volunteers.
