The Ferragudo lifeboat has been called out to rescue a boat, drifting towards rocks, with children on board.
An SOS was received by the Portimão Maritime Police, at 19:30 on Tuesday evening.
The alert warned the rescue services that a vessel was drifting to the south of Portimão and was approaching a notoriously perilous area of rocks. The wind and tide was moving the stricken boat towards danger amid poor sea conditions.
A lifeboat was immediately launched from the Ferragudo Lifeboat Station, which located the leisure boat with 10 people on board, 6 children and 4 adults.
Faced with a boat drifting towards a danger zone, it was towed to Portimão docks with no further mishaps.
