More Met funding approved for McCann case

praiadaluzThe Metropolitan Police is to receive further funds to continue its investigatio into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

The UK government has funded Operation Grange to the tune of £11 million pounds (€12.5 million), latterly released in tranches every six months.

The operation to investigate Madeleine’s disappearance, run by a dedicated team from London’s Metropolitan Police, started after the former Prime Minister, David Cameron, asked for a detailed examination into Madeleine’s disappearance.

The new funding of £150,000 shows the British authorities' commitment to continue the investigation for a further six months. the investigation is descibed as being "at the final line of inquiry," according to the Home Office which is to release the money.

Madeleine McCann disappeared from a tourist apartment in Praia da Luz, (pictured), on May 3, 2007, where allegedly she had been left alone with her twin brothers.

The 30-strong Operation Grange team in 2013 was reduced to five officers in 2015 as lines of inquiry led nowhere, no suspect has been charged and successive Home Office ministers are loathed to be the one to end the operation.

The Mccann disappearance has become a celebrity case that eats police time and money; the unfortunate reality is that children disappear every day. Few get anywhere near the resources that this case has gotten.
By continuing to fund the Madeline fascination, the authorities distract the public from the terrifying reality that their children are not safe. Not in the UK, or anywhere else. And that they usually fail to trace missing children.
The only difference is the press coverage of this case, probably because it occurred on a slow news day and featured a very good photo.

More wasted taxpayers money. Is it possible that the McCanns have friends in high places and even something on someone in a high place? In my opinion, if a child snatcher had taken Madeleine, it would be very soon apparent that with her giveaway eye, the child could not easily have been given away and would have been quickly dumped and the body subsequently found. Perhaps the priest in Luz could be persuaded to renounce the secrecy of the confessional, just for once. Read on!

You are quite right! I was referring to what the parents had declared during the incomplete Portuguese police investigation. Since the Portuguese police investigation was "abruptly" interrupted there is no way of knowing if what the parents declared was true. Please accept my apologies.

I believe that is the first apology in nearly ten years - thank you!! - even though not necessary as we both knew what each other meant.

This case is so full of deceit and lies that we must tread carefully - the trolls are out there, watching, waiting....

"...where allegedly she had been left alone with her twin brothers." Allegedly?? Perhaps you might want to remove the "allegedly" word Ed. We all now that Madeleine was definitely left alone with her twin brothers while her parents were dining.
How do you know this? One of the theories, yet to be disproved, is that she was not in the apartment and that her abduction was staged by the parents. Had I not inserted the word 'allegedly' those following this theory would, no doubt, have told me to insert the word.
