Faro's snail festival is back

caracoisIt’s that time of the year again and a chance to visit Faro’s now famous Snail Festival.

The location is the Jardim da Alameda, in Faro, from May 24 to 27.

For those whose idea of a good evening out does not include eating snails, there is plenty of other street food available plus home made ice-cream, crepes, and the inevitable fartura stand.

There’s a handicraft fair, bouncy things for kids to play on and music.

According to the Faro’s Union of Parishes, which organises the event, the Festa do Caracol aims to promote traditional products, local cuisine and the ‘Mediterranean culture’ - which includes eating snails.

Admission is free and the festival is open between 5 pm and midnight.
