Arade Conference Centre to host its first Algarve property show

4805Four dozen property sector companies will gather at the Algarve Real Estate Exhibition at the Arade Congress Centre - a monument to the State’s lack of grasp when it comes to property matters.

The famous ‘white elephant’ congress center, whose annual losses are covered by Lagoa and Portimão councils, is situated in Parchal, Lagoa, and is the venue for the show that runs from June 7th to 9th.

The organisers say that 40 real estate agents will be there, plus suppliers of related activities, so visitors can discuss buying, selling, renting and property management.

A strong presence from the real estate sector and from “premium ventures” is expected but not confirmed, which is odd as the show starts in three days.

Also promised is an “extensive programme of conferences and workshops related to real estate activity.”

One speech worth listening to will be made by the Secretary of State for Housing, Ana Pinho, who will be presenting her Legislative Package of the New Generation of Housing Policies, on June 8th.

Quite why Pinho is launching a social housing package at a real estate fair in the Algarve, remains to be seen as her set of new policies will be in response to housing shortages and will concentrate on ‘affordable housing’ while the estate agents are involved in private sector provision.

Under the heading, "More than promoting property, promoting the region," this is the first Algarve Real Estate Exhibition to be held.

The first day will concentrate on the real estate sector; the second, to technologies and materials used in construction; and the third, to urban renovation.

Open from 2pm until 10pm on Thursday and Friday, and until 11pm on Saturday (June 7th to 9th)
