Phew! September was a scorcher

sunnyIf you thought September was unusually hot, it was - with the weather service agreeing that its figures show it was been the warmest ‘since records began.’

The only September that came near to this year’s average of 23.1°C was in 1985 when Tarzan Boy by Baltimora topped the European singles charts and Dire Straits headed the album charts with Brothers in Arms.

The first day of September 2018 was the hottest, the maximum reached 36ºC, the average was 27.2ºC and the low was 18.3ºC.

Last month’s average temperature was 23.1ºC with September 1985 recorded at 22.89°C.

The recorded highs through the month were around 4ºC above what is considered normal and the nighttime lows were 1.6ºC above average.
