Finanças is launching a handy new card to hand to retailers when customers want a receipt with their tax identification number (NIF) registered.
An email is being sent to taxpayers to let them know how this card can will make this process simpler and negates the need to call out their details when in a queue.
The new card, which can be issued with or without the name of the taxpayer, carries a barcode so that companies with barcode readers can automatically obtain the customer’s NIF to be printed on receipts.
"The use of the card prevents typing errors, reduces the handling time on purchases and assists the trader in his obligation to issue an invoice” explains the Finanças email. The card is free and may be used as many times as the holder wants.
Invoices with the customer’s NIF are essential if the taxpayer wants to enter the new monthly lottery for a free car, courtesy of the taxman.
The other reason to collect receipts is to obtain a year-end credit of up to €250 from the 15% of the total VAT paid over for purchases at car repair outlets, restaurants, and hairdressers.
