Walk over the Guadiana at Alcoutim's Contraband Festival

alcoutimAlcoutim Council is fully behind the local Festival of Contraband and is supporting the event for the third year running.

The Council has voted to shell out grants of €2,800 and €13,320 to the Associação de Desenvolvimento Etnográfico de Martim Longo and the Associação Água Ardente, Produções Teatrais.

The Água Ardente association, "has long and recognised experience in the Festival of Contraband and the local Partridge Fair.”
 
The Festival of Contraband, jointly organised between Alcoutim Council and the Ayuntamiento de Sanlúcar de Guadiana, in Spain and is an anchor event of the 365 Algarve programme.
 
The festival will run from March 29 to 31, and again will have a floating bridge between Portugal and Spain.
 
Alcoutim’s mayor, Osvaldo Gonçalves, says, "The continuity of this event is extremely important economically for the area based on the interconnection of the various agents and public and private operators, national and foreign."

March 29 is a significant date. Will UK citizens be required to show their passports? Or is the Guadiana the much sought after soft border?
