Pensioner shot by pensioner outside Altura bar

INEM125 Judicial Police officers have arrested a pensioner for shooting a man outside a bar.

According to the Police, the crime occurred on the night of Sunday, May 5th bar in Altura, Castro Marim, following an argument.

The victim, "is a man of 70 years of age who was hit with three shots from a firearm. He is alive and in hospital."

The suspect, who is 75 years old, will be up before the magistrate today to see if he needs to be held in custody or allowed home.

On the contrary Dave deserves another red thumb for pretending to know 1 that the suspect is an ex-colonial soldier 2 the firearm used is illegal and 3 for linking the firearm to the Tancos arms incident. Not mention the threat of invasion nonsense. Dave just let his wild imagination take over.

These shootings remind us just how many illegal firearms are still 'in circulation;' in Portugal. Never collected back in from soldiers returning from the Colonial wars and as a background the centuries old mindset of ever present threat of invasion. Several years ago a figure of one and a half million firearms was mentioned. The Tancos arms depot theft yet again in the news .. showing just how easy, even today, it is to get your hands on Portuguese military grade firearms. Then relax as all concerned, to save face, will initially claim none were missing as "it was an accounting error".
