São Brás de Alportel invests in the improvement of local forest paths and aqueducts

aqueduct improvementsThe São Brás de Alportel City Council will invest around 28 thousand euros in the improvement of forest and agricultural paths, and in the construction of aqueducts, with the objective of "ensuring the accessibility of rural paths and better access to water points".

The building contract entails the "construction of aqueducts and the improvement and repair of around 50 kilometers of forest paths throughout the mountainous area of ​​the municipality”.

“Alongside all the roadside cleaning interventions, the large investment in the improvement of fuel management lanes, and land clearing along the main roads of the highlands and Barrocal, these works are of utmost importance in preventing the outbreak of wildfires, because they allow Civil Protection officers to intervene more effectively, safely and quickly ”, says São Brás Council.

These works also aim to “ensure better access to existing properties” by facilitating owners’ ability carry out the cleaning and maintenance actions that are essential in protecting the forest, as well as for transporting agricultural products and vehicles.

The project is part of the Municipal Forest Defense Plan and is “the product of an evaluation carried out by the Municipal Civil Protection Service, in cooperation with the Hunter’s associations, the São Brás de Alportel Voluntary Firefighters, and members of the local community."
