Marktest, a Portuguese market research agency, gave the county a 14.0 rating, which pushed Albufeira into second place at a national level in a ranking of economic dynamism. This is a conclusion drawn from 39 indicators, which measure different demographic, economic and quality of life factors in every municipality.
First launched in 2014, the municipal ratings’ goal is to provide an innovative tool to local authorities and businesses so that they can quickly and intuitively perceive the main strengths and weaknesses of each of the country's 308 municipalities.
An analysis of the economic dynamism ranking shows that Albufeira stands in second place at a national level, alongside Lisbon, both of them sharing 14.0 points on a scale of 1 to 20. Albufeira thus maintains the position it reached in 2018, only surpassed by Aveiro, who rose to first place with 14.1 points.
“We are proud to see that Albufeira is in second place in the study that measures the economic dynamism of 308 municipalities. This recognition motivates us to do more and better, as we have been doing so far, which has allowed us to climb to this rating. In 2017 we took third place and in 2018 we managed to reach the second position, which we maintain this year,” pointed out José Carlos Rolo, Mayor of Albufeira.
