Europe will be able to achieve collective immunity against Covid-19 by July, European Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton said on Sunday, underlining the expected increase in vaccine deliveries.
"Let us set a symbolic date: on the 14th of July we have the possibility of achieving immunity at the level of the continent," he said, speaking to French channel TF1.
“We are in the final stretch, because we know that, to overcome the pandemic, there is only one solution: receiving the vaccine. Vaccines are coming and will arrive here, ” he said, adding that “between March and June, between 300 and 350 million doses of vaccines will be delivered”.
The European commissioner also referred to the expected increase in deliveries planned for Europe, with 60 million doses expected to be delivered in March, 100 million in April and 120 million in May.
According to Thierry Breton, 55 factories already produce vaccines in Europe.
Until the 10th of this month, the European Union had administered 9.64 doses of vaccines for every 100 people, according to the portal ourworldindata.org.

If you believe in what Mr European commissioner businessman says then collective stupidity has been reached long time ago.
Further to Chip's suggestion Pingo has currently a promotion: 25% off lixívia.
Collective stupidity more likely.
For people under 70 the alleged virus takes 5 lives out of 10000. For a vaccine to be approved it needs to show to be effective by saving lives. How can it show to be effective with such a miniscule number?
“We are in the final stretch, because we know that, to overcome the pandemic, there is only one solution: receiving the vaccine." What a great sales pitch from the French businessman and politician.
You really do link up with and tout the views of some charming people, David.

Far too many EU citizens are now refusing vaccines following his, and the EU's, comical handling of the rollout. One day they're unsafe, the next they can't get enough supplies.
