Tavira rapid Covid vaccination centre ready to start mass vaccination

Dr Photo - TAVIRA RAPID COVID VACCINATION CENTRE READY TO START MASS VACCINATIONThe Municipality of Tavira, together with the Grouping of Health Centres of Sotavento, have created a rapid vaccination centre in the Sports Pavilion of the D. Paio Peres Correia School, which is now ready to open and receive the community to start the Covid vaccination process.

According to the Tavira municipality, "the space, consisting of consists of a waiting and pre-vaccination area with a nursing room, five vaccination stations, as well as a post-vaccination monitoring area with a follow-up room, will have the capacity to vaccinate 50 people per hour and will start its function as soon as the necessary doses for intensive vaccination are available".

Olhão, Faro and Lagoa rapid vaccination centres have also been given the green light to open, however, without adequate stocks of vaccine none of the centres can yet begin functioning. Centres are scheduled to open at the beginning of May.

If you are a resident in Portugal and not yet registered with the Portuguese healthcare system, it is important to do so in order to receive your vaccination. CLICK HERE.

Speaking about Contracts regarding Astra Zeneca, the EU are now suing this company for Breach of contract (Guardian newspaper).
This has the potential to affect the UK roll out of vaccine, as it could be forced to revert its existing stocks of vaccine to the EU to fulfill this existing contract.

AZ supplied the vaccine at cost so your assertion that "capitalism is at the core of the Tories decision" is risible.
AZ cannot profit from Covid vaccines during a pandemic as per contracts. It's the same deal with other manufacturers.

Now you know when the pandemic will be declared over.

Ha! Ha! Good luck with that!!!

Quoting Brook:

Family got their first vaccination in February, they have to wait until May to get their second vaccination, they are concerned about the effectiveness of of their vaccinations into the future though.
Why didn't Johnson's government vaccinat the most vulnerable, the old and the sick first with both shots, within the manufacturers recommendations of two -four weeks apart, instead of 3 months.
Wonder if capitalism is at the core of the Tories decision?

Not sure what happened to your family as their experience is entirely different to everyone I know and I have seen nothing in the press, including Reuters (which I agree is the only honest media outlet) detailing widespread delays as you describe.
The reason why the UK gave one dose to the 75+, 70+ etc then started on younger groups leaving 2nd doses for 12 weeks is because the MHRA found that 1 jab gave 65% immunity and the AZ vaccine worked better with a 2nd dose after 12 weeks raising that to 90%+. They have been proved right. Compare the UK to France, Germany etc.
Nothing to do with Johnson who was following the scientists' advice.
I'll ignore the rest of your anti-Boris rant except to say that whilst I agree he has made mistakes, he has been fabulously successful compared to most EU countries and that is how he will be remembered - the man who got his act together and followed the medical experts' advice.

Terrible and disgraceful, when we can't believe the newspaper we read or the politicians we elect.
What has happened to honesty and fairness...
The only news I can think of is perhaps Reuter news or wikipedia !

Reply to Stuart Wood.
Which of these FACTS do you not recognise

Boris Johnson will be remembered for,

1. not getting a brexit deal with the EU which caused a hemorrhage of manufacturering and financial jobs out of Britain.

2.For not providing adequate PPE for NHS staff, causing hundreds of professional Health workers to die in the course of their work.,

3. For the thousands of UK citizens that died prematurely, because he failed initially to act quickly in dealing with the pandemic .

4.And finally, for his unending financial dodgy deals for his supporters and buddies.

No prime minister has failed in such a large scale and in such a short time. This is only the beginning.
But Stuart, keep your blinkers on, because you are going to need them For what's coming down the road, with this Eton mess of an idiot at the helm.

Sounds about normal for just about any politician both preceding, during, and I am sure, after this pandemic, Brook! BTW, FACT, I didn’t disagree with your “opinion” on the BJ issue. However, I have yet to see data (can you provide any?) that supports your assertions, as such they just remain our “opinions” based on media stories, and then it depends which media you read.

Once again, Brook is a fact free zone! The delay in roll out was caused by the EU's own intransigence in executing contracts and foot dragging on approvals. The blood clot issue came well down the line. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/20/world/europe/europe-vaccine-rollout-astrazeneca.html

I will concede on the BJ "opinion" though... herd immunity? What was he thinking.
