The Portimão Judiciary Police (PJ) have arrested a 36-year-old man on strong evidence of two acts of rape, one of them attempted rape, carried out last week.
The police force said that the facts under investigation “occurred in the last week, in the area of Alvor, in Portimão” and were causing “high public unrest”, also due to the dissemination of the acts “on social networks”.
According to the PJ, the investigation of these posts on social media by the Department of Criminal Investigation in Portimão, allowed police "to identify the alleged perpetrator of the crimes" and proceed to "his arrest", which took place Friday morning.
