A 53 years old woman was rescued from the mud at the weekend by the National Maritime Authority (AMN) on the Boina stream, one of the tributaries of the Arade River, in Portimão.
In a statement, AMN reveals that the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Portimão received the alert at 5:58 pm and immediately moved to the scene. The Portimão Volunteer Firefighters and two members of the National Republican Guard were also involved in the work.
"When they arrived at the scene, the woman was found in an area of mud, and was finding it impossible to get out, similar to quicksand. A member the Maritime Police, along with the help of the Portimão Volunteer Firefighters, entered the area where the victim was, assisting her to move and get to safety."
The woman was subsequently transported to the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve, and found to have no injuries, but was a little shaken.
