Self-scheduling of vaccinations against Covid-19 is now available to people aged 50 and over on the Internet portal of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
The possibility for people over 50 to be able to make an appointment to take the vaccine was available this Thursday, shortly after 21:00.
Following phase 2 of the vaccination plan and a greater availability of vaccines in Portugal, the portal for self-scheduling came into operation on April 23rd, now covering people over 50, after initially being opened to users aged 65 and over, then available to 60 +, then more recently +55 years old.
Portugal will receive more than 1.4 million vaccines against Covid-19 in the next few days, which will allow the country to speed up the vaccination process of three age groups in parallel, said the task force source who coordinates the logistics.
These 1,446,000 vaccines arriving in the country this week and next represent around 25% of the total of 5,728,470 doses delivered to Portugal since the vaccination plan started, on December 27rd, 2020.
The task force that coordinates the vaccination plan intends, in the week of June 6th, to start vaccinating the age group from 40 to 49 years old and, in the week of June 20th, the group of 30 to 39 years old.
Data from the Ministry of Health indicate that, up until Tuesday, more than five million vaccines had been administered in mainland Portugal, with around 3.5 of the first doses and more than 1.5 of second doses.
