The Algarve region registered 127 new cases this Wednesday, which corresponds to the highest number in four months, more specifically since February 11th 2021, when 148 new positives were reported.
Portugal as a whole recorded three deaths associated with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, 1,497 new cases of confirmed infections, the highest number since February 24th 2021, and a decrease in admissions to wards and intensive care.
The weekly Directorate-General for Health (DGS) bulletin released yesterday shows Portugal is already clearly in the red zone of the risk matrix, now with 128.6 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in the national territory and of 129.6 on the mainland. The values are the highest recorded since March 15th 2021, and are clearly above the red line of 120, indicating that further deconfinement is blocked in the national territory for the timebeing.
