Covid-19: New cases continue to rise, another 76 in the Algarve

COVID-19: NEW CASES CONTINUE TO RISE, ANOTHER 76 IN THE ALGARVEThe epidemiological report by  the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), published yesterday, reveals that in Portugal new cases of Covid-19 are on the rise, with 1,382 new cases registered in the last 24 hours and 4 more people deaths.

In the Algarve region, 76 more new cases were reported and none died, 1 less and 2 less than the day before (Wednesday), respectively.

The Rt (transmissibility index) at the national level went down and is at 1.05 (0.03 less than on Monday - 1.05), while at the continental level it also went down and is at 1.05 ( 0.03 less than on Monday - 1.05).

The incidence rate at the national level rose again and stands at 104.3 cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants (2.8 more than on Monday - 101.5), while on the mainland it also rose and is at 104 .4 cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants (2.5 more than on Monday - 101.9).

As of yesterday, in Portugal there are a total of 32,480 active cases.

As for hospital admissions, yesterday there were 27 fewer people hospitalised than the day before, now a total of 357 in hospital, of which 73 are in Intensive Care Units (ICU), 6 more than the day before.

The number of people under surveillance by the health authorities in Portugal is 23,028 people, 102 fewer than the day before.

According to the DGS, since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,094,048 positive cases have been validated in Portugal, with, regrettably, 18,184 deaths due to Covid-19.

In the last 24 hours, 836 people recovered from the disease, so now and since the beginning of the pandemic, in Portugal there are 1,043,384 people recovered.

Since the beginning of the pandemic until the yesterday, in mainland Portugal and islands, the accumulation of positive cases and deaths by Covid-19 in each region is as follows:

Lisbon and Tagus Valley: 422,440  and 7,742 dead 

North: 417,061 and 5,599 dead

Centre: 147,761 and 3,188 dead

Alentejo: 40,273 and 1,054 dead

Algarve: 44,230 and 481 dead

Madeira: 12,862 and 74 dead

Azores: 9,421 and 46 dead
