The GNR have detained a 29-year-old man in Silves for drug trafficking after stopping his vehicle for a routine road inspection.
The GNR officers found that the driver of the vehicle "demonstrated suspicious behavior and nervousness during the inspection". On searching the vehicle they found "that the individual was in possession of several doses of cocaine, properly packaged in individual doses, ready for sale," which led to the mans arrest.
Following the arrest, a house search was carried out at the mans home, which culminated in the seizure of various items, namely: 725 doses of cocaine; a vehicle; four cell phones; 288.56 euros in cash; a set of precision scales; narcotic product packaging material and drug cutting material.
The man, who was on parole for committing the same type of crime, was brought before the Judicial Court of Portimão and sentenced to preventive detention at Olhão prison.
