Sílvio Rocha, a 24 year old futsal player, died yesterday afternoon after being stabbed in the neck, on Avenida Sá Carneiro in Quarteira. The attacker fled the scene and has not yet been located.
According to the report from several witnesses, the young man had a disagreement with a man he was talking to. After suffering the first blows, he still tried to run away, but was chased by the attacker and stabbed again. Bystanders tried to help him until emergency services arrived.
When the INEM ambulance arrived at the scene, the man was not able to be resuscitated and died at the scene from his injuries.
The mans team fustal team, CheCul Quarteira, were waiting for him to arrive, ready to play a scheduled training game against Bonjoanense, in Faro. They were shocked to hear the news.
The case was handed over to the Judiciary Police, who are on the hunt for the agressor, who is still at large.
