A fire broke out yesterday afternoon at around 1:15 pm, on a pleasure boat with five on board, moored at the Vilamoura Marina.
The crew managed to get out of the boat on their own, but three of them showed signs of intoxication due to smoke inhalation.
The emergency services were called, and he Maritime Police of Faro, Fire Department of Loulé, Portuguese Red Cross and the GNR attended.
“Upon arrival at the scene, it was found that the five crew members had managed to leave the vessel by their own means. They were helped and transported by elements of the Portuguese Red Cross to a nearby hospital unit, where three of them showed signs of intoxication due to smoke inhalation,” saidn the National Maritime Authority statement.
The fire was controlled and extinguished by the Municipal Firefighters of Loulé, the causes of which are not yet known.
