A terrified resident told the Correio da Manhã newspaper, “I called the GNR and they told me there was nothing they could do.”

The incident happend last week, “Upon arrival, on Wednesday, they were completely intoxicated. Bottles were broken by the pool. I called the GNR and they told me they couldn't do anything because they had already paid” said the resident.

Yet it would be so easy to prosecute these individuals.
Or at absolute minimum identify them so that airlines could ban them from flying.

Equally ~Portugal needs to implement a mechanism like that used by the USA, whereby people have to apply online in advance of travel and declare all criminal convictions ( so that they can be denied entry ).

The deterrent effect would be huge, and so easy to do if the will were there to make an effort.

[ Has anyone ever read a report of British louts pulling tricks like this in Miami or wherever ? They know it's not in their interest to do so. ]

GNR can sit on roundabouts all day handing out traffic tickets but can't stop vandalism, social disruption and public lewdness? Welcome to the Algarve tourist industry!
