Yesterday, Ikea Portugal announced that it will give a bonus equivalent to a month and a half salary to all workers, in December.
The bonus, which comes after the company increasing the value of the staff food allowance from €4.55 to €6 in October, results from a distribution of the results of the 2022 fiscal year, in which sales grew 19.5%.
“At a time full of challenges, IKEA Portugal announces three new measures of recognition and support for its employees, thus reinforcing the gratitude and appreciation of all the people who work in the company”, begins a statement by thehome goods retail company.
The company sales grew by 19.5% last, compared to the previous fiscal year, to a whoppnig €552 million.
In addition, the amount of €10 million will reinforce Ikea´s 'social fund' at a global level, to support workers in “more financially sensitive” situations, which “will be distributed equitably across the various markets, to help mitigate the difficulties generated by rising costs of living”.
Finally, to help face the rise in energy and food prices, “the employee discount applied to IKEA purchases will be doubled in a selection of energy saving products and on Swedish Grocery products”.
