The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) have extended the cold yellow warning to the 18 districts of mainland Portugal until 6am on Sunday, due to the forecast of continued cold weather.
The cold weather we've experienced since Sunday is set to continue until this Sunday, across Portugal, with minimum temperatures fluctuating between -4ºC and 5ºC.
The IPMA forecast for today, Thursday, is a continuation of cold weather, with periods of very cloudy skies, precipitation from mid-morning in the north, generally light rain, progressing towards the south. The rain may be snow in the highlands, and gusts of strong wind are likely on the western coasts and in the highlands.
The forecast for the next few days also points to the possibility of morning fog and frost, especially inland.
The maximum temperatures over the next few days are between 4ºC in the north of Portugal and 15ºC in the Algarve.
