A 26 year old man arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking, is also thought to be the murderer of two Algarve women, Sandra Andrade and Josiele Rodrigues.
Sandra Andrade, the 49 year old TVDE driver from Quarteira, went missing last June and was found dismembered, inside a suitcase, São Lourenço, Almancil in August.
The body of Josiele Rodrigues, a 25 year old luxury escort, missing from Quarteira since December 6th 2022, was found in an advanced state of decomposition, burned and with signs of violence, in a bush area in Ourique last month.
During the search of the suspects possessions, authorities found an ATM card belonging to one of the women.
The man has reportedly already been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of Tatiana Mestre, found dead as a result of asphyxiation with her body burned, in August 2018, but he was only imprisoned for 20 months, eventually being acquitted by the Court of Appeal of Évora.
The PJ suspect that the man may have been Sandra's customer on an Uber trip, and that he was a client of Josiele.
Apparently, there is no link between the two victims, but there are similar details in the modus operandi.
The PJ suspects that the crimes are linked, but the suspect was arrested in connection with drug trafficking. There is currently not enough evidence to place him under arrest for the crime of homicide.
