Four arrested and 106 bales of hashish seized

FOUR ARRESTED AND 106 BALES OF HASHISH SEIZEDThe Portuguese authorities have seized 3710kg of hashish and detained four men, two Spanish and two Moroccan, in an operation just off the south coast of the Algarve.

A high-speed vessel was also seized, suspected of drug trafficking activity, as a result of this joint operation in international waters in the south of Portugal between the Portuguese Navy, the National Maritime Authority and the Portuguese Air Force, in collaboration with the Judiciary Police.

It was a maritime patrol aircraft of the Portuguese Air Force that detected and followed the movements of the suspected vessel.

Following the joint mission, in which suspicious movements of vessels related to drug trafficking were detected by a Portuguese Air Force maritime patrol aircraft , “an approach operation was carried out by two means, one from the Navy, operated by Marines and another vessel from the Maritime Police”, reads the official statement.

The vessel full of drugs was taken to Faro port, in order for the investigation to begin, with the four arrested men and the drugs then being handed over to the Judiciary Police.
