A 40 year old man, Mário Mendonça, died early on Monday evening, in a motorcycle accident on the EN125 towards Faro-Olhão. He was a member of “Moto Convívio de Olhão".
The club said in a statement, “Moto Convívio is in mourning, the club members are in solidarity with the family and particularly with the couple's two younger children, as no one expected what happened.”
Nuno Botelho, president of “Moto Convívio de Olhão”, mentioned that the couple had been partners for about 4 years. He also revealed that last weekend, the couple attended the club's annual meeting, which takes place in early June.
The emergency alert was given around 19:50 on Monday evening after the motorcyclist collided with a car. The doctor from the Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) declared the mans death at the scene. The driver of the car, a 40 year old woman, was taken to Faro Hospital with minor injuries.
